Meet Greg and Melissa. They are a couple from Wisconsin that plan their vacation trips around their vanilla usage. We had a question & answer session with them to learn about their why they love Mexican vanilla so much.

Los Cinco Soles (LCS): So tell us about where you’re from?

Greg and Melissa (G&M): We live in Wisconsin, up near the home of the Green Bay Packers, for any football fans… in the heart of cheese-head country!  Wisconsin is one of the few places that REALLY knows how to make good cheese, in our humble opinion.

LCS: Tell us a little bit about yourselves.

G&M: My wife and I have been married for 30 years.  We have four children all in their twenties currently.  The three younger ones are all graduated from college and working, the oldest is off doing his own thing.Cozumel, Mexican Vanilla, Vanilla Extract

LCS: Do you travel much?

G&M: We love to travel and we typically travel somewhere in the Caribbean 2-3 times per year, either on a cruse or at an all-inclusive resort.  We love the Caribbean and aspire to live there some day, maybe.
LCS: So how does your supply of vanilla determine when you come to Cozumel?

G&M: In the last several years, we have been cruising and we always know when it is time to make a stop in Cozumel by the status of our vanilla bottle.  We love to cook and when the vanilla is empty, we have to stop in Cozumel or Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

LCS: How did this all get stated?

G&M: See, a number of years back, we saw these huge bottles of vanilla for sale as we walked down 5th Ave. in Playa del Carmen. Seeing how inexpensive they were in relation to a similar bottle in the USA so we tried some.  We LOVED IT!  It has such a great, pure vanilla taste, that it made our cooking even better.  Our kids love it as well.  They tell us when they are out, so we have to go to Mexico, to buy them some more.  They are getting old enough to make the trips on their own, so they now do that as well.IMG_2101

LCS: So what are your favorite recipes that includes vanilla?

G&M: As far as favorite recipes that include our Mexican vanilla in cookies of course and I love to add it to my pancakes, muffins, and probably my favorite, is French Toast. There is NOTHING like a nice thick piece of French Toast that has been properly made with Mexican Vanilla!  Gotta love it!

We love our Mexican vanilla and traveling so we always bring some home.  We hope to continue the tradition with our kids and grand-kids, for years to come.

There you have it! Next time you run out of vanilla your simply need to come back Cozumel and stock up. For those who can’t as often as one like look at our website and have vanilla delivered right to your house.
